Study Abroad Experience Barcelona

I’ve been back from my exchange to Barcelona for a few weeks now, but I still look back on a very nice adventure the past six months.

For my exchange I went to Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and took courses there that matched my curriculum. The university uses a slightly different system than the one we use at Radboud. You were in smaller groups so that the interaction between professor and student increased. The professors were also all very friendly and available to help you.

However, the best part of the whole exchange was the people you get to know there and the city you get to explore. Everyone is very open to meeting new people and doing fun things together. This is how I got to know people from all over the world from just the Netherlands and Europe to Canada, with whom I still have contact. The small cultural differences between each other were therefore always the most fun to experience and learn from.

Life in Barcelona itself is also really nice. Everyone is a lot less rushed and focused on the time than the people here in the Netherlands. In the beginning it took some getting used to that everything goes a bit slower and you have to take your time for everything. But after a while you get used to it. In addition, you can of course lie on the beach and enjoy the sun and when the weather gets colder, explore the city. There is so much fun to see and experience so it is never boring to walk through the city. Of course I also did and saw all the tourist things that should not be missing from a trip to Barcelona. Such as the famous Sagrada Familia, Camp Nou and Casa Battló. In addition, many trips were always organized to the surrounding towns or I went by myself with a group to do something fun. But you never have to be bored during your exchange.

I can definitely advise anyone who is hesitating to go, to do it anyway, because I will never forget this experience!!
